Testimony, 2000-2
(oil/handmade paper, ceramic, acrylic: 2.5' x 25' x 9')

When Christians completed their conquest of Spain (1492), Jews and Muslims were either expelled or forced to convert to Christianity. Some ostensibly converted, but practiced their religion in secret. If they were discovered cooking according to their own dietary laws, they were denounced to the Inquisition and faced trial and possible execution. This installation's paintings contain texts from actual Inquisition records. Ceramic shards represent dissolution and fragmentation.
