Andalusia (1), 2000-3 The religious tolerance of medieval Spain produced a flowering of culture and learning in all the arts, including cuisine. Vegetables such as eggplant and artichoke were introduced to Spain by Muslim traders, and incorporated into the cuisine of both Muslims and Jews. Each of six panels is labeled (as in botanical drawings) with the name of the still life subject in Arabic and Hebrew. |
